Adelante Charter School

and a Dual-Language Immersion School
Adelante is a Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion (DLI) K-6 Title 1 school in Santa Barbara, California. We are the home of the Cheetahs and a 2025 California Distinguished School.
Our school values are deeply rooted in the civil rights activist, Latino and farm worker leader, and community organizer César Chávez. We strive to live by his "ten core values" everyday at Adelante, including service to others, knowledge, innovation, acceptance of all people, and respect for life and the environment.
César Chávez worked closely with Dolores Huerta creating the United Farm Workers Association. She is an activist that works for the rights of laborers, women, and immigrants. She is credited with created the rally cry "¡Sí se puede!" which we have adopted as our own.
Two languages and rich cultural experiences are woven into each student's day at Adelantethrough outstanding academics.
Students are taught in a supportive environment to excel as creative, empowered thinkers and problem-solvers.
State Superintendent Tony Thurmond has announced that Adelante Charter School has been designated a 2025 California Distinguished School.

The Independent, a Santa Barbara local paper, published our own press release. In it, we said that we are a school that "...stands out for embracing an immersive, research-based model that allows students to acquire both languages naturally through meaningful interaction and academic content."

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Adelante Charter School, a beautiful bilingual (Spanish-English) learning community in Santa Barbara's heart. We are proud to be a California Distinguished School and one of the safest schools in the state, maintaining a 0% suspension rate for the past four years—a reflection of our commitment to a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
At Adelante, students thrive in a unique setting where learning two languages opens doors to a future full of possibilities. Our strong academic program is complemented by an extensive arts program that includes music, visual arts, dance, and physical education, ensuring that each student grows academically, creatively, and physically.
